Panaji, Apr 24 (UNI) Former speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly and veteran freedom fighter Advocate Froilano Machado passed away here today due to old age.
He was 82 and is survived by three sons and two daughters.
Chief Minister Digamber Kamat in his message said ''Adv Machado had deep love for his land and language and always worked for the welfare of people of Goa. He was a dedicted social worker and worked tirelessly for the people, especially for weaker sections of the society.'' State Revenue Minister Jose Philip D'Souza also mourned the death of a great freedom fighter and prominent citizen of the state, saying Adv Machedo fought for the liberation of Goa, for Konkani language and for the statehood.
Even after his retirement he continued his mission as a true patriot, fighting for the environment and green Goa.
