Port Blair, Apr24(UNI)Andaman and Nicobar is yet to decide on whether National President Bharatiya Janta Party would be given the status of State Guest during the maiden visit to Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Rajnath Singh will be arriving at Port Blair on April 26 on his first ever visit to this far-flung islands for a three-day tour to study the Opposition party's strengths and weaknesses in the islands.
''There are chances that the national president will be declared a state guest of this Union Territory but nothing is clear till now,'' BJP's Andaman unit president Vishal Jolly told UNI today.
There is also a high-level security concern during his three-day trip here and BJP is taking no chances.
''Security arrangement will be made for him as per norms.
Ranjanth Singhji is in Z-plus category and so he would be accompanied by NSG commandos,'' Jolly added.
In this connection, the Congress in Andaman said that they would have no problem in Rajnathji being accorded the status of State Guest.
''That is the discretion of the local administration, we have nothing to say in this regard,'' the General Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee told UNI today.
Rajnath Singh would be addressing a public meeting at Port Blair, Rangat (Middle Andaman) and Diglipur (North Andaman) on April 26 and 27. Mr Singh would also be meeting members of the RSS in Port Blair.
