Bangladeshi criminals nabbed from Bongaon
Bongaon, Apr 24 (UNI) Police today claimed to have nabbed a gang of seven Bangladeshi criminals from Manigram near here under Bongaon police station in North 24 Parganas.
Police today said the armed gang assembled to commit crime in the area and were nabbed late last night.
Police seized at least three firearms along eight rounds of ammunition from their possession, besides valid passports and visas.
The offendors after crossing the international border through Petrapol corridor took shelter in a private lodge of the border town here.
The gang, led by Jakir Hussain in the guise of foreign tourists, used to enter time and again and loot mostly banks and post offices in West Bengal and neighouring states, police said following interrogation of the accused.
The members of the gang belonged to Jessor and Narail districts of Bangladesh.
It was also revealed that the gang was involved in at least ten cases of bank and post office robbery in India, police said.
Three of the accused were remanded in 14-day police custody while four others in judicial custody for an identical period.
