As many as 94 nominations rejected
Bangalore, Apr 24 (UNI) As many as 94 nominations, including that of cine actor turned politician Jai Jagadish of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) from Kodagu district, were rejected after scrutiny of nominations filed for the 89 seats in the first phase elections to Karnataka Legislative Assembly.
According to information available so far with the office of the Chief Electoral officer, 94 nominations have been rejected during the scrutiny in the first phase elections scheduled for May 10.
In Kodagu, hopes of making political debut for Kannada Cine Actor Jai Jagadish was thrashed following rejection of nomination by the Madikeri Returning officer citing that already other candidate had filed along with 'B' form issued by the party.
In Mysore as many as 42 nominations of the total 242 received were rejected by the concerned returning officers in 11 assembly seats. However the nomination papers of all the registered political parties have been found in order, the official sources said.
In Bangalore urban district, including 21 seats in BBMP area, as many as 11 nomination papers were rejected followed by Tumkur (11), Chickballapur (02), Kolar (10), Mandya 10, Kodagu 03, Chamarajanagar (03).
The details from Ramanagaram, and Bangalore Rural districts are awaited, the sources added.
In all 1375 nominations were filed for the first phase elections.
