2 HM militants killed in Kashmir

Baramulla, Apr 24 (UNI) Two militants of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) were killed in a fierce encounter in the frontier district of Kupwara this afternoon, official sources said.

They said Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and 21 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) launched a joint operation at village Shathigam, Handwara, this afternoon following a tip-off about the presence of militants there.

During the operation an encounter took place in which two militants were killed.

Two AK rifles and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants identified as Mohammad Ramzan and Ghulam Nabi.

This was the second major loss of HM in north Kashmir during the past 24 hours. Yesterday, a self styled District Commander and his deputy were killed by the security forces near here in the town.
