New Delhi, Apr 23 (UNI) A city court today discharged Sansar Chand, a notorious poacher, in a 16-year-old wildlife case.

The Crime Branch of Delhi Police on October 27, 1992 had raided a house in Nehru Vihar area of North Delhi and recovered more than 31 leopard skins, two tiger skins and skins of various other endangered species and also arrested two accused, Om Prakash and Rajesh Kumar.

On their interrrogation, it was revealed that they were working for Sansar Chand.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Alok Aggarwal did not treat the statement of these two accused as admissible evidence against Chand.

Om Prakash and Rajesh were charged under Sec 9, 49 and 49 A of the Wildlife Act.

Chand has more than 40 cases pending against him under the Wildife Act across the country.

He was arrested by the Delhi Police in 2005 and is presently lodged in Ajmer Jail.
