Police seize 2.5 kilograms of heroin from Thai national in UP
Gorakhpur, Apr 23 : Revenue intelligence authorities have seized two-and-a-half kilograms of heroin from a Thai national.
On Tuesday, officials of Directorate Of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in Gorakhpur nabbed a 23-year old Thai national with the contraband.
Officials said that the contraband is worth 25 crore rupees in the international market.
"At the base of her luggage trolley a false bottom of 2 mm was there from which about 2.5 kilograms of heroin has been seized. She has accepted the accusation," said Bachha Singh, Senior Intelligence Officer, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Gorakhpur.
"I am from Thailand... I want to go to Katmandu," said the accused.
Besides the contraband, 1,300 dollars in cash was found from her luggage, which the officials claimed to be the first instalment of the total amount promised to Khwanrue for delivering the consignment in Kathmandu.
The culprit has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Regulation of Controlled Substances Order 1993) Act.
