Orissa to launch special drive against atrocities on SCs
Bhubaneswar, Apr 23 (UNI) The Orissa Government today decided to launch a special drive to expedite the disposal of the cases on atrocities on the Scheduled Caste people in the state.
A decision in this regard was taken at the Scheduled Caste Welfare Advisory Board and State Level High Power Vigilance Monitoring Committee meeting presided over by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
The meeting decided to create more Deputy Superintendent of Police posts as all atrocities on the Scheduled Caste people, as per the provision, must be probed by the DSP and the a magistrate jointly.
The chief minister also directed the concerned authorities to fill up the vacancies in the posts reserved for the Scheduled Caste category and strictly implement the Orissa Reservation Vacancy Act in all the departments.
