Noisy scenes, brief adjournment of RS on Poorvanchal issue
New Delhi, Apr 22 (UNI) The Rajya Sabha today witnessed noisy scenes during the Question Hour with BSP members demanding discussion on an adjournment motion on the conditions of farmers in Poorvanchal and Bundelkhand.
The noisy scenes also forced Chairman Hamid Ansari to adjourn the House briefly for 15 minutes at 1105 hrs.
Immediately after the House began proceedings for the day, Mr Satish Misra of the BSP demanded that the House discuss the adjournment motion moved by him on the condition of farmers in Poorvanchal and Bundelkhand.
When the Chair did not accede to his demand, he, along with Gandhi Azad and Rajan of the BSP entered the well of the House, demanding a discussion on the important issue.
The Chairman's pleas to maintain order and allow the Question hour to proceed fell on deaf ears as the members persisted with their demand and he adjourned the House for 15 minutes.
When the House re-assembled after the adjournment, the BSP members were again on their feet, reiterating their demand.
Amid the noisy scenes, the Chair proceeded with the Question hour. With their demand not accepted, the BSP members said they walked out of the House in protest.
Thereafter, the House continued with its normal proceedings.
