Nagpur sizzles at 44.1 degree Celsius
Nagpur, Apr 23 : A severe heat wave has gripped Nagpur with the city recording a maximum temperature of 44.1 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.
The residents of the city were seen covering themselves with scarves and protective sunglasses.
"The problem is that the water is drying up in the well and May is expected to be terrible, further terrible," said Sanjay Badge, a resident.
The mercury has also risen steadily across several northern states.
"It is terribly hot. In spite of reducing the temperature of the air conditioner there is no relief, we are sweating badly," said Mangesh Mohite, another resident.
According to meteorological department, Nagpur, known for its hot and sizzling summers, is expected to see the mercury soaring up to 45 degrees Celsius towards the month end and crossing 46 degrees Celsius in May.
