Kathmandu, Apr 23: Meeting of the Communist Party of Nepal -Maoist (CPN-M) held here decided that the next government should be under its leadership and that party chairman Pushpa Kumar Dahal alias ''Prachanda'' would head the government whether it is prime ministerial or presidential.
The meeting reaffirmed the abolition of monarchy and implementation of republic in the country and concluded to form a coalition government and continue consensus with other parties, Maoists leader CP Gajurel said.''CPN-M has emerged as the largest party so the next government should be formed under our leadership,'' he said. Mr Gajurel said we will hold the major ministries and negotiation can be made for the portfolio of other ministries.
Prachanda led CPN-M has emerged as the largest party with about 222 seats in the 601 seat Constituent Assembly (CA) followed by about 111 seats of the Nepali Congress (NC) and 104 seats of the Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML).
The vote counting of the PR has not completed but so far the Maoists has gained about 30 per cent of the seats while the NC 21 percent and CPN-UML 20 per cent.
