Chandigarh, Apr 23 (UNI) Haryana Olympic Association Secretary General Dr Mahinder Singh Malik, IPS, (Retd) today requested the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to take over the Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) and form an ad hoc committee to run the hockey activities.
The Former IHF Senior Vice President, Dr Malik, suggested that IOA president Suresh Kalmadi should be the chairman of the ad hoc committee.
Hockey Olympians, internationals as well as personalities with 'impeccable records'' should be included in the panel.
''As IHF secretary general Jothikumaran has been caught red-handed accepting bribe to include a player in the Indian squad for the Azlan Shah Cup, in a sting operation by a TV channel.
Corruption in selection procedure has brought disgrace to the country at the ''global level'', he said.
Former Director General of Police, Haryana, and manager of the victorious 1998 Asian Games hockey team, Dr Malik said that he had been receiving reports of corruption and shady deals in the functioning of the IHF but there was on ''conclusive proof'' .
Saying that it is the ''collective responsibility'', Haryana Hockey Association president and Secretary General of the Haryana Olympic Association, Dr Malik requested Mr M S Gill and Union Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs to immediately demand resignation not only of president KPS Gill but the entire IHF team.
