Jemima Khan receives death threats for supporting Muslim think-tank

Washington, Apr 23 : British actor Hugh Grant's former girlfriend Jemima Khan has been receiving death threats for supporting a counter Islamist extremism organisation.

Khan had converted to Islam before marrying cricket legend and political campaigner Imran Khan in 1995.

The English socialite pledged her allegiance to the The Quilliam Foundation during the week, a group of reformed Muslim radicals who aim to combat extremism.

The group however has been the target of death-threats, intimidating calls and emails, and Khan, who is its patron, has been referred to by name, as told by the group's co-director, Ed Husain.

"All of this is designed to discredit us in the eyes of members of the Muslim community," Contactmusic quoted him as saying.

"The leaders of these movements are fearful of us because they know that members have been in touch with us and they want help in order to leave," he added.
