New Delhi, Apr 23 (UNI) The goverment is making regulatory system for recruiting agents more stringent and is monitoring their performance more closely to ease overseas visit norms and make the travel process simpler, the Lok Sabha was informed today.
Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi said in a written reply that the Ministry was udertaking emigration reforms to make the travel process simple, transparent and efficient.
''We have done away with the requirements of exit clearance for those travelling on visit visa to save travellers from undue inconvenience, harassment and expenditure,'' he said.
The Ministry had liberalised the criteria for issue of ECNR passport to cover all people who are class 10 pass and above.
To ease overseas visit norms for ECR travellers, the procedure of issuing suspension of emigration check requirement has been abolished in the Protector of Emigrants offices from October last year.
ECR passport holders travelling for purposes other than employment are now allowed to leave the country on production at the international airports in India.
