Gulbarga, Apr 23 (UNI) The Congress will release on April 26 its final list of nominees to contest the Karnataka Assembly elections next month, senior party leader and former Chief Minister N Dharam Singh said today.
Speaking to newspersons here, he said that while announcing the party nominees, the party High Command had decided to reject those defeated in the last elections by a margin of over 10,000 votes.
Referring to large scale resentment in the party following denial of party tickets to many leaders to contest the elections, Mr Singh said the party would convince those who had failed to get the party ticket and make them work for the success of the official nominees.
About electioneering, he said party supremo and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi was expected to address four or five public meetings, including in Bangalore and Gulbarga.
Mr Singh said he would seek re-election for the ninth successive term from Jewargi Assembly seat, which goes to polls in the third phase.
KPCC president Mallikarjuna Kharge would contest from Chitapur reserved seat as his home constituency of Gurumitkal was made a general seat after the delimitation exercise.
