CCI for remedial measures to revive struggling industrial units
Jammu, Apr 23 (UNI) Chamber of Commerce and Industry (cci) today appealed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who is visiting here on Friday, to announce some remedial measures for the revival of industrial units who are at the verge of closure.
Addressing a press conference here, CCI President Ram Sahai said ''sudden withdrawal'' of excise incentives by the Government this year had jeoparadised the entire process of industrial development, investment and subsequent employment generation in Jammu and Kashmir.
He said many units established in the state for the benefit of the excise refund are likely to close their shutters.
The package of the incentives which was granted for 10 years, and changed after the lapse of five and half year, has caused aspersion on the crediability of the central government, CCI President said.
''We once again appeal to make the government aware of negative impact of the said notification and immediately take remedial measures by withdrawing it,'' said Mr Sahai.
