BJP demands Sports Minister resignation in bribe row

Lucknow, Apr 23 (UNI) A day after Sports Minister M S Gill sought resignation of Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) president K P S Gill over IHF secretary K Jothikumaran bribe acceptance episode, the BJP today demanded resignation of the Sports Minister himself.

BJP sports unit president and former International wrestler Rakesh Singh here said ''Jothikumaran has brought shame to the country by accepting bribe...it is equivalent to being a treason.'' ''The IHF secretary is a broker, who has degraded our national game Hockey,'' he charged.

The wrong policies of the Central government has led to bribe acceptance in the sports world, Mr Singh alleged ''The Sports Minsiter cannot run from his responsibilities, therefore we demand his resignation into the matter,'' the BJP leader maintained.
