Panaji, Apr 23 (UNI) Binani Cement Limited (BCL) today unveiled the new look of its product, Big B, themed on its brand ambassador Amitabh Bachchan, at a function organised in South Goa.
Talking to mediapersons after unveiling of the brand, BCL Managing Director Vinod Juneja said the company has come up with this concept with a hope that the new look and feel of the brand will create excitement in the market. The brand will reinforce the trust shown by people in the quality of Binani Cement.
''We chose Goa as a venue to announce our brand because it has a charismatic effect on the creative minds,'' he explained when asked about selection of the state for unveiling of the brand.
The company has come up with a unique marketing model of pay cash and carry the bag, which is in contradiction of the existing market norms of allowing credit to retailers and dealers, he said.
Mr Juneja said BCL has posted a profit before tax of Rs 244.84 crore during the financial year 2007-08 that ended March 31, showing a rise of 56.37 per cent. Profit after tax stood at Rs 175.82 during the same fiscal year, as compared to last year's Rs 95.61 crore. The company's Board of Directors have declared a dividend of Rs 2.50 per equity share, subject to requisite approval.
Consequent upon installation of the company's split cement grinding unit at Neem Ka Thana (NKT) on March 31, the cement capacity has increased to 6.0 million tonne per annum. The company will set up two plants in Gujarat very soon, he added.
