Mumbai, Apr 23 (UNI) With a prize money totalling Rs 50 lakh, ''Vixture Gaming Championship''- the country's biggest gaming championship, was launched by entertainment firm Zero Friction and global game publisher Electronic Arts.
''Gaming has been perceived as a peripheral entertainment activity with no serious competition. With a top prize of Rs 20 lakh in hard cash, we are holding a very serious championship here,'' Zero Friction India Director Charu Sabale said here yesterday..
The championship will be played on five games, published by Entertainment Arts- ''Crysis'' (PC), ''Need for Speed-Prostreet'' (XBox 360), ''Fight Night Round 3'' (PS3), ''Cricket'' (PS2) and ''FIFA 08'' (XBox 360).
Over 50,000 gamers from 200 Internet cafes have been intimated, with preliminaries played by 10 five-man teams in Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune and Mumbai each, from May 15-30.
The top 64 teams will battle out for the top prize of Rs 20 lakh in Mumbai from June 13-15. Runners-up team will get a prize of Rs 10 lakh. Top gamers of the five games will win Rs 4 lakh each.
