Members of TNGDA observe fast to press demands
Tiruchirapalli, Apr 22: Members of the local branch of the Tamil Nadu Government Doctors' Association (TNGDA), as part of their state-wide agitation went on a day's fast here today.
They were demanding, among other things, upward revision in pay scales of doctors attached to Government hospitals, time-bound promotions, reduction in working time to 40 hours a week and filling up vacancies in the cadre of Deputy Directors of Tuberculosis, Family Welfare and Leprosy.
Association Tiruchirapalli branch President S Selvapandian told newspersons that the payscale for government doctors in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala was almost two to three times higher than that of Tamil Nadu.
