Shimla, Apr 22 (UNI) Voluntary Action Network India (VANI), the national network of voluntary organisation in the country, in association with Society For Environment and Rural Awakening (ERA) and Mountain Forum Himalayas (MFH), is organising a two-day state level consultation on ''National Policy for the Voluntary Sector'' here from tomorrow.

Over 120 voluntary agencies from across the state have been invited to take part in the meet, which would discuss and analyse the National Policy for the Voluntary Sector, which was formally approved by the Union Cabinet on March 17.

VANI's chief executive officer Paresh Tewary and ERA's Pradeep Sharma, in a joint press release here, said the policy would also help in creating an enabling environment for voluntary organisations and facilitating their partnership with the government.

To take advantage of the policy and to further empower the voluntary sector of the state, the workshop would also host a detailed discussion about the formulation of the state policy in accordance with national policy.

They said the government has also been asked to set up task forces to operationalise different sections of the policy and include members of the voluntary sector in it.

This consultation would be the fourteenth in a series after Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa and a few other states, Mr Tewary and Mr Sharma added.
