Court awards life imprisonment to one for murder in Kashmir

Srinagar Apr 21 (UNI) A local court in the frontier district of Kupwara awarded life imprisonment to a person today, who killed a villager 18 years ago.

The District Sessions Court, Kupwara, had awarded life imprisonment to one Alam-din for murdering one A D Khatana following a dispute over property.

As per the case history of a complaint lodged in police station on August 16,1991, one Baju Bagoo and Alam-din attacked and injured A D Khatana after he objected for constructing a 'kotha' near his house.

Khatana later died in the hospital and the case under section 302 RPC was registered against the accused.

However, after the investigation and recording of the statement of witnesses, Baju and Bagoo were dropped from the list of accused.

The court awarded the life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 5000.

His bail bond was cancelled and was taken into custody, sent to Central Jail Srinagar.
