Buy two get one free ticket for IPL Mohali match

By Staff

Chandigarh, Apr 22 (UNI) While claiming that all students tickets for the next two Indian Premier League (IPL) matches of Kings XI Punjab to be played at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali had been sold, Chief Executive Officer Neil Maxwell said ''with a view to giving incentives to the cricket fans, it has been decided to offer one ticket free if one purchases two tickets''.

However, this initiative will be for denomination of tickets of Rs 750 and 3000 only.

Kings XI Punjab play Mumbai Indians on April 25 in a day/night match and Delhi Daredevils on April 27. This concession is available for these matches only.

The attendence for the Yuvraj Singh captained Kings XI Punjab's first match played in Mohali on April 19 against Mahendra Singh Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings was 60 per cent.

Punjab Cricket Association president Inderjit Singh Bindra said ''we were the first one to have a day match but a night matvh makes a lot of difference. We had told the organisers prior that first match should not be a day match but somehow they could not reschedule the April 19 match.'' The former Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Bindra said ''We had written three weeks before that it's unfair to get a day match but now once you lose the tempo you have to work double to rebuild it''.

The sale of tickets now is much better than for the earlier match, he said. With four days to go, 50 per cent tickets for the second match and 40 cent for third match have been sold, he added.

Talking about the ideal time to start the 20-20 match, Bindra said ''eight o'clock is much better timing for cricket and entertainment.'' Hoping to find a viable media, Bindra said ''IPL does not want to cannibalise international cricket. International tour would be given priority and moreover we want to co-exist with the international cricket.'' He clarified that IPL is ''a domestic tournament.'' ICC will be happy to create a window for IPL and IPL will make formal request only after this tournament, he said.

''The problem with English Cricket Board and English players is between them. We would not allow them to play if their board does not give them a no objection'', Bindra said.
