Bangalore Bio-2008 to focus on 'fostering global partnership'
Bangalore, Apr 22 (UNI) 'Global Partnership' will be the focal theme at the Eighth Edition of India's biggest biotech event 'Bangalore Bio 2008' to be held here from April 24 to 26.
Briefing newspersons here, Karnataka IT and BT Secretary Ashok Kumar C Manoli said that 'Bangalore Bio' had emerged as the most preferred destination for leaders, experts, manufacturers, researchers and service providers from the biotech fraternity to seek and set new directions for this emerging sector.
About 150 exhibitors from India and abroad, 650 delegates including 100 from 15 foreign countries would be participating in the three day event.
Merck and Co Inc, one of the world's biggest biopharma companies, was the global partner while Australia (Victoria State) was the country partner coming with 18 companies and a delegation of 40 professionals. France was participating as the international partner with 15 organisations and a delegation of45 biotech experts, he said.
The event would be inaugurated by Nobel Laureate Sidney Altman, who would also be delivering the 'Highlight Lecture'. Union Secretary for BT M K Bhan would deliver the keynote address at the inaugural function.
Prof Altman is the sterling professor of molecular, cellular and developmental biology at Yale University in the US.
