AP lags behind in human development: Lok Satta
Hyderabad, Apr 22 (UNI) Describing as ''unwarranted'' the Planning Commission's praise for the so-called ''all round development'' of Andhra Pradesh, the Lok Satta today alleged that the state lagged behind many other states in human development indices.
While welcoming a higher plan outlay for the state, party General Secretary D V V S Varma wondered how could the Planning Commission compliment a state which was gradually withdrawing from sectors like health and education.
''Only Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia should know how every one can access education and health when the government encourages the private sector in health by launching 'Aarogyasri' and in education by promoting concept schools,'' he said in a statement here.
Mr Varma alleged that the government allocated a lion's share of funds to sectors that provided opportunities for making money.
