Singareni Colleries to supply coal to RTPP
Hyderabad, Apr 21 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Minister for Energy Mohd. Ali Shabir said Singareni Collieries had agreed to supply five rakes (18,500 tonnes) of coal per day to Rayalaseema Thermal Power Project (RTPP) at Muddanur for another 15 days to meet the daily requirement and build up some ground stock.
The Minister held a meeting today with the officials of Singareni Collector and Andhra Pradesh Generation Corporation (APGENCO) and reviewed coal stock position.
Consequent on commissioning of unit three and four at RTPP, the daily consumption of coal had gone up to 14,000 tonne per day and the stocks had come down to an alarmingly low level of 10,000 tonne which was not even equivalent to a day's consumption, he maintained.
As coal supplies from Mahanadi Coalfields Limited to RTPP were not materialiszing as per the linkage due to hike in ocean freight and the contract coming to an end, it had become necessary to supplement the shortfall from Singareni collieries.
He claimed the govenment was taking necessary steps to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the consumers of the state.
