Bangalore, Apr 21: In a major crackdown, Bangalore police today rounded up 490 rowdy sheeters and had issued 922 warrants after the election to Karnataka Assembly was announced on April two.
Speaking to newspersons here, Commissioner of Police N Achyuta Rao said rowdyism was on the increase in southern parts of the city and the police had launched a major crackdown.
Mr Rao said all the arrested were framed under CrPC Act-110 and produced before the court. Many others, on whom clear evidence was not available, had been warned.
He said police were in regular touch with the Election Commission and had sent reports on the crackdown.
