Hoshiarpur, Apr 21 (UNI) Piles of building materials dangerously stored by roadside at Saila Khurd town caused two accidents in which three people including a pregnant woman lost their lives last night.

A car hit into a pile of sand and bricks, stored by a local trader Narinder Kumar for building new shops, covering more than half portion of the road on Hoshiarpur-Chandigarh highway along with a water tanker.

The driver lost balance and ran over three women sitting nearby the piles, killing seven-month pregnant woman Kulwinder Kaur (23) on the spot and injuring her aunt and sister. Her aunt later succumbed to injuries in a hospital.

The driver, Mohan Lal of Khanpur in Ferozepur, then rammed against the boundry wall of a house and died on the spot.

A while later, the driver of a jeep also failed to notice the piled sand and drove his vehicle over it due to which his jeep over turned. He was seriously injured and rushed to the Civil hospital Garhshankar.

Police has registered a case under sections 283, 304A, 337 and 427 of the IPC against the trader.
