Bangalore, Apr 21 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (Marxist) Polit Bureo Member Sitaram Yechuri today called upon the people of Karnataka to prevent communal force like the BJP from coming to power.
Speaking after releasing party's election manifesto for the next month's Assembly polls he said that BJP, which was trying to divide the country in the name of religion, was working hard to make inroads into South by coming to power in Karnataka.
"But this should not be allowed since BJP wants to build Hindu nation in a country which has diversified culture and religion," he said.
He said the whole country is looking at Karnataka since it was the first State to go to election after delimitation of segments.
However the real issue was that mid-term polls was imposed on people by the party (BJP) which fought not for people's rights but for power.
"We should not allow a party which is greedy for power. It is only due to power the people are being forced to vote again and people should not allow such party to come to power," he added.
Mr Yechuri said that fragmentation of Assembly had taken place during the last 40 months with JD(S) sharing power with Congress and BJP. The poor had suffered the most because of many issues including non-issue of ration cards and non-implementation of various welfare measures.
