Kathmandu, Apr 21 : Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (CPN-M) chairman Prachanda on Monday urged all political parties to work in tandem to from a "government of consensus and ascertain sustainable peace in the country.
He also said that no political parties should shy away from past agreements and understandings.
"No body can run away from past agreements and understanding, that of forming a government of consensus. Even though the people gave a clear mandate to the Maoists for establishing sustainable peace in the country, it can be achieved only after all parties move ahead in tandem with each other," nepalnews.com quoted him, as saying.
The Maoist chairman who is tipped to be the first president of the new democratic republic of Nepal was speaking at a programme organised in the capital to felicitate all the winning candidates of the Kathmandu Valley.
In a slight clearly aimed at CPN-UML and Nepali Congress, Prachanda requested political parties not to feel let down just because they have performed badly in the polls, and called upon them to work together for Nepal's bright future.
