Mumbai, Apr 21 (UNI) The NCP today demanded a discussion in the Maharashtra Legislative Council over the resignation of BJP leader Gopinath Munde from all organisational posts.
When the House was convened for the day, Gurunath Kulkarni (NCP) demanded a discussion on the issue.
He said Mr Munde's comments that there was no democracy in the party and he was not allowed to speak in the legislative assembly, were serious charges and needed to be debated.
Pandurang Phundkar (BJP), Diwakar Ravte and Madhukar Sarpotdar said Mr Munde was not the member of the Council and he had already clarified his comments in the assembly, therefore, it needed not be discussed in the House.
Shiv Sena members said it was an internal matter of the party and needed not be discussed in the House.
Meanwhile, Sanjay Dutt (Congress) and Kapil Patil (Independent) supported the issue raised by the NCP and demanded for a discussion.
However, Chairman Shivajirao Deshmukh rejected the demand and proceeded with the question hour.
