Man held in dowry death case

Jabalpur, Apr 21: A man was arrested in connection with dowry-related death of his wife at this district's Khandia village, police said today.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Rural) A A Qureshi said Anjali Sahu (26) had consumed some poisonous substance and died while being treated in the Medical College Hospital on April 13.

Anjali married Ashish Sahu in 2001. After few years, Ashish allegedly started beating Anjali and forced her to bring money from her parents.

A few days ago Ashish demanded Rs 1 lakh but she brought only Rs 50,000. This enraged Ashish and he started harassing Anjali after tired with the mental and physical torture, Anjali committed suicide.

The accused was arrested yesterday, police added.
