Gandhi scions,Shah Rukh held up in bandh-bound Kolkata
Kolkata, Apr 21 (UNI) AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi and his sister Priyanka Vadra were among a host of celebrities held up in Kolkata today reportedly because of the Trinamool Congress and SUCI -sponsored 12-hour Bengal bandh.
The brother-sister duo along with Priyanka's family could leave the bandh-bound city only at 1745 hrs.
They were here to witness the Indian Premier League(IPL) T20 cricket match between Sourav Ganguly-led Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR) and VVS Laxman-led Deccan Chargers yesterday.
KKR owner and Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan and colleague Juhi Chawla too had to delay their departure for the same reason. King Khan reportedly took an early flight out of the bandh-bound city.
Called by the opposition Trinamool Congress and SUCI in protest against the spiralling prices of essentials, the bandh was called off two hours before the schedule because of a large number of marriage ceremonies to be held during the day.
