Filing of nominations in Daxina Kannada begins tomorrow
Mangalore, Apr 21 (UNI) The filing of nomination papers for polling to eight Assembly constituencies in Daxina Kannada would begin tomorrow.
Briefing on the arrangements, Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer M Maheshwar Rao told the press here today that the district, which would go to polls on May 16 in the second phase, had 1,321 polling booths, of which 497 had been identified as sensitive and 307 as hyper-sensitive.
The district had a total of 13, 26,693 voters, including 6, 71,470 women voters in eight constituencies after the delimitation exercise.
The last date for filing the nominations was April 29.The scrutiny would take place on April 30 and the last date for withdrawal of nominations would be May 2.
The elections would be held on May 16 and the counting would take place on May 25, he said.
According to the directions from the Election Commission (EC), four people were allowed to accompany the candidates filing the papers.
The candidates should also declare their daily election expenditure from the date of filing the nominations, he said adding if there was any objection from the observers, he should submit the report.
The candidates should intimate about posters, banners and pamphlets and also provide a copy to the printers who in turn would send a copy to the Returning Officer, he added.
