In just 37.4 overs yesterday, 15 wickets fell against a score of 222 runs, with both Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman getting hurt from unpredictable bounces by balls from opponents. Laxman, who has faced deadly fast Aussie bowlers in the past, making 281 in 2001, rued that Eden pitch was ''shocking''. He said, ''this sort of wicket would not at all help T-20 or for that matter cr-cket in general.'' Before going at duck last night, Laxman hurt his fingers from an Ishant Sharma delivery. Even deliveries from Andrew Symonds saw ball rising above the batsman's head and Adam Gilchrist behind the wicket had a tough time holding them.

The central pitch was used at Eden in the first match.

Eden will host its second match on April 29 between Kolkata and Mumbai Indians.

All the players, including Ganguly was critical of the erratic behaviour of the pitch.

Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) Secretary Niranjan Shah said the IPL's technical committee and Cricket Association of Bengal would probe all aspects of the pitch to ensure good cricket at Eden Gardens.
