Kottayam, Apr 21 (UNI) The BJP in Kerala today demanded the resignation of Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan in the wake of a fresh statement given by police official on Changanacherry campus violence last year.
The case should be entrusted to CBI and the political conspiracy behind the case should also be probed, party state President P K Krishnadas demanded, addressing newspersons here.
The CPI(M) state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan should tender an unconditional apology for supporting the false propaganda that ABVP- RSS activists were behind the killing of ASI Elias in the violence, he said. Besides, the case against the four ABVP- RSS activists should be withdrawn and compensation should be given to the innocent people for police torture in custody, he added.
He also charged that political conspiracy by Mr Balakrishnan, Mr Vijayan and Kottayam MLA V N Vasavan was behind the earlier FIR in order to implicate the ABVP-RSS activists in the case, and save the real culprits.
In the FIR, the police official said he saw an ABVP activist striking down ASI Elias with a rod. Now the official had changed his earlier statement and had stated before the court that he did not see the incident but only heard about the incident from another official, he charged.
Immediately after the incident, the Home Minister had stated that ABVP-RSS activists were behind the killing of the ASI.
