Azadi express reaches Allahabad

Allahabad, Apr 21 (UNI) To speead awareness among youth about freedom movement and teach them the value of Independence, Azadi Express, an awareness train' on the country tour on behalf of Informtion and Broadcasting Ministry, reached this city today.

Azadi Express that reached at 0830 hrs was welcomed here by four freedom fighters -- Kaxmikant Pandey, Mevalal Gupta, Lallu Mercury Jaiswal and Ramchandra Varshneya, sources said.

The train has 11 wagons and is divided into three sections. In the first section, incidents till 1857 are shown, in the second wagon, incidents from 1857 to 1947 are depicted and in third section, incidents from 1947 till date are demonstrated.

All the 11 bogies have the name showing its content like Company Raj, Gandhi leadership and Quit India. This train started its journey of whole country on September 28, 2007 from Delhi and would mark an end in Delhi itself on May 11, 2008.

The train also has some presentations on the East India Company's establishment, Mangal Pandey protest, Jaliawalan Bagh, Gandhiji leadership and his movements, Green and white revolution, India as a fastest developing country and many other things.

Train in charge P K Dhibar told that this train is showing many facts about the freedom, which youth of today least know.
