7 killed in UP fire incidents
Lucknow, Apr 21 (UNI) At least seven people were charred to death and 16 others sustained burns in separate fire incidents in Uttar Pradesh today.
Besides, as many as 1,000 houses were reduced to rubble in the incidents that were reported from Basti, Maharajganj, Gorakhpur, Sitapur, Kaushambhi, Pilibhit, Gonda and Sultanpur.
Reports from Basti confirmed the death of two people in Unji village of Duboila area where 200 huts were also gutted.
In Sultanpur, a girl was charred after fire broke out in a house at Amnaeepur village. The fire engulfed 10 nearby houses. Another incident occurred in Kadipur colony, where 15 houses were reduced to ashes. As fire fighters were late in extinguishing the blaze, an irate mob blocked Sultanpur-Shahganj road and vandalised a roadways bus.
In Gorakhpur, standing crops on several acres of land was destroyed in fire, while, a man was injured in Belipar area.
In Barabanki, a woman was charred while preparing food and another injured in Inamipur village.
In another fire incident 10 others were burnt after a transformer exploded in Ghugli town in Maharajganj.
100 huts were gutted in Kotwali area in Sitapur two girls died in another fire incident in Tarabganj colony in Gonda and over 200 houses were destroyed.
In Pilibhit, a girl died in Pooranpur fire incident. Nearby 350 huts were also gutted.
