Chandigarh, Apr 20 (UNI) Temperatures in Punjab, Haryana and even the hilly state of Himachal Pradesh are on the rise with mercury at most places in the region remaining one to four degrees Celisus above normal during the day today.
Patiala was the hottest place in the region recording 39.1 degrees, four degrees above normal.
The Union Territory of Chandigarh was also hot at 38.0 degrees, three degress above normal. Day temperature in Ambala and Karnal was also three degrees above normal at 38.0 degrees.
Ludhiana was warm at 38.1 degrees while Amritsar recorded a maximum temperature of 35.4 degrees, one degree above normal.
In Himachal Pradesh, Sundernagar and Una were warm at 33.9 degrees and 34.2 degrees respectively. Mercury rose to 29.6 degrees in Dharamshala, while Bhuntar in Kullu district was almost equally warm at 29.4 degrees.
The capital hill resort of Shimla had a maximum temperature of 23.4 degrees, four degrees above normal. The maximum in Kalpa in the tribal belt was 18.1 degrees, which was also above normal temperature.
The Met office has forecast clear weather in the region in the next 24 hours.
