Salt Lake (West Bengal), Apr 20 : Kolkata transgender community on Sunday walked on the ramp at a fashion show in which they wore the dresses designed by their own community members.
They performed dances on popular Hindi songs.
About 50 people participated in the fashion parade to show their talents. It was not a high-end fashion show, but was a unique in its character.
"We hardly get any chance to show our talents. So we prepared our own stage to reach to the world," said Sonia, a participant.
The fashion show was organized under the banner of Manas Bangla, an NGO that works for the rights of transgender people.
Transgender feel that society tries to ignore them and therefore they have to fight to make their own space and dignity in the society.
