Knight Riders beat Deccan Chargers by 5 wickets

By Staff

Kolkata, Apr 20 (UNI) After vanquishing Royal Challengers in the inaugural match of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) today notched up their second successive victory, snuffing out Deccan Chargers' challenge by five wickets at Eden Gardens here today.

Riding on a brilliant unbeaten 38 by David Hussey, the KKR reached the target with six balls to spare, thereby bagging six points from two matches.

While Michael Hussey of Chennai Super Kings got the Man of the Match award yesterday scoring a swashbuckling 116 not out against the King's XI, today it was the turn of his brother David Hussey whose spectacular effort stemmed the rot to lead the Kolkata Knight Riders to a nail-biting victory.

Earlier, the Deccan Chargers were skittled out for a paltry 110 in 18.3 overs, thanks to a superb bowling display by offie Murli Karthik, who returned with figures of three for 17.
