South Indian Filmmakers heading towards Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 20 : South Indian filmmakers are once again making a beeline for the Kashmir Valley to shoot movies.

A Kannada film "Chaitrada Chandrama" produced by Bhagyawathi Narayan is the first one in many years to shoot in Kashmir.

Narayans shot the film in Kashmir after a two-decade long hiatus. Narayan feels that this step will go a long way towards emboldening other filmmakers to return to the beautiful locales in Kashmir.

"We are here for the shooting of the Kannada film 'Chaitrada Chandrama' and it has been an awesome experience in Kashmir, and I feel proud to see one of the most beautiful places in Kashmir," said Pankaj Kumar, who is making his debut from this movie.

Amulya, heroine of the film, appreciated the fact that the locals were very cooperative and left the actors alone for their work

"I have come to see a shooting for the first time. I have traveled a long distance to see this shooting and I think that more and more filmmakers should come to an exotic place like ours," said, Farooq Ahmad, a local resident of Srinagar.

The movie was also shot at the Tulip Garden that was inaugurated by Congress president Sonia Gandhi. The garden that was opened on March 29 at the foothills of the Zabarwan Mountains on the banks of the Dal Lake could mark the return of Kashmir as a fabulous film locale.
