Barrackpore, Apr 20 (UNI) Police arrested four miscreants, including the kingpin of an interstate drug-smuggling racket, and seized 10 kg ganja, 200 gm heroin, 21 mobile phones, besides a truck and other incriminating documents from their possession.
Police said here today that the leader of the racket Haji Samsul Haque alias Pakhi Mian was wanted since late 2006 in a murder case following the assassination of senior intelligence officer of the customs department Tarun Kanti Dutta.
The racket was operating in the eastern and Northeastern region for a considerable time, police added.
The CBI and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), along with police, were interrogating the arrested quartet.
Pakhi Mian, an inhabitant of Barhat village under Moulajor police station in Naogaon district of Assam, had been allegedly operating the racket for the past 15 years.
