London, April 20 : Speaking for the first time since a heart attack that almost killed him, the father of soccer ace David Beckham has revealed how he reunited with his son.
Speaking of his close bond with the family, Ted Beckham reckons that the Golden brawls are now finally over.
"I can ring David any time. We've now got a good father/son relationship and I'm very proud of him," News of the World quoted Ted, as saying.
The father son relationship turned sour back in 2001 when Ted split with the footballer's mother mum Sandra-and Becks blamed him for it.
The bitterness in the relationship intensified even more when Ted wrote a book, which included deeply personal revelations about David's youth and private chats he had about quitting football after the strain of Euro 2000.
However, last year everything resolved when Ted suffered a heart attack.
He almost died in the ambulance on the way to hospital and needed emergency surgery.
On hearing the news, David forgot everything and rushed from LA to be by his father's side, a move that recovered their relationship.
"We've had our ups and downs. But deep down, it's a very strong bond between me and David," Ted said.
