Bolepur, Apr 20 (UNI) State Congress president and I&B Minister P R Dasmunsi today said there cannot be any anti-CPI(M) alliance without the Congress support and the party in turn is open to alliance with any other party.
Speaking at a public meeting in the district's Mohammed Bazar area, in protest against killing of Congress worker Bandhu Mistri by CPI(M) activists, Mr Dasmunsi said in order to defeat the CPI(M), ''We have no problem in joining hands with any anti-CPI(M) party, as long as they share our values.'' ''We will lobby for an anti-CPI(M) alliance until a day before the panchayat elections,'' he reiterated and added that there cannot be any anti-CPI(M) alliance without the Congress support.
Addressing the issue of price hike in essential commodities, Mr Dasmunsi said, ''Although prices of petrol and diesel rose all over the world, West Bengal had been able to attain high annual crop production. Still, it has not been able to receive a proportionate amount back from the Centre, from its nationalised public distribution system.'' The public meeting was also attended by Congress Adheer Ranjan Choudhury, INC leader Subroto Mukherjee.
