Hyderabad, Apr 19 (UNI) The leaders of the Joint Action Committee for Teachers Organisations (JACTO) today launched a fast-unto-death, in support of their demands including the clearance of unified service rules for all teachers.
The spot valuation of 10th standard was badly affected by the agitation, launched in all the district headquarters, as most of the teachers boycotted the spot valuation and organised 'dharna' in front of the centres.
Several teachers were taken into preventive custody when they tried to obstruct the valuation process at a school in the city.
Meanwhile, talking to newspersons, Progressive Recognised Teachers Union (PRTU) leader B V Mohan Reddy said the teachers would continue the agitation until the government accepted their demands.
He threatened that the teachers would completely boycott the spot valuation if the government failed to pay heed to their demands.
The other teachers unions, including Gugurkula employees and teachers, had expressed their solidarity with the JACTO.
