Bhubaneswar, Apr 19 (UNI) Orissa Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Jayadev Jena today demanded a CBI probe into the alleged nexus between the criminals and the officials in the state besides the murder of judo coach Biranchi Das.
Talking to newspersons here Mr Jena said the CBI should also be asked to investigate the alleged railways scrap deal that surfaced after the murder of 'Wonder kid' Budhia Singh's coach Biranchi Das.
He also alleged that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was trying to shield his weakness and protect the corrupt police and other officials in handing over the alleged nexus between the criminals and the officials to be probed by the Lok Pal.
Mr Jena said the recent disclosure of Raja Acharaya, the prime suspect in Biranchi Das murder case, through CD had exposed that not only the police officials but also senior IAS officers in the state were involved.
The OPCC president said even after five days of Biranchi's murder, the police has failed to nab the culprits.
On the other hand Raja Acharaya has challenged the police by asking them to select a place for encounter.
The recent transfer of the Bhubaneswar and Cuttack Deputy Commissioner of Police besides five other Superintendent of Police would not solve the problem unless the government initiated some visible action against the gangster operating in the state.
