Kerala plans reclamation of sea for industrial purpose
Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 19 (UNI) Pointing out the lack of sufficient land as the main hurdle for bringing industries to the state, Kerala Finance Minister T M Thomas Isaac today said the government would explore the possibilities of reclamation of sea for such purpose.
Talking to reporters here, he said though a concrete decision in this regard was not taken, the government would seriously think about its possibilities. However, the project would be implemented in the areas, where population and fish wealth are poor.
The minister further said the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) had agreed to provide sufficient loans for the purpose, if a suitable project report was submitted.
Mr Isaac said the government would take all possible steps to bring more investment to the state and the issue would be discussed with all the people concerned before taking a final decision.
''There will be different opinions and criticisms in the initial stage of any project and a solution will come forth,'' he said when asked about objections from the public.
