7 of family killed by female member of same in UP

Lucknow, Apr 19 (UNI) In a brutal end to a love story, police have arrested a girl for masterminding the murder of her entire family, along with her paramour, in a village in Hasanpur area of Jyotiba Phule Nagar here on April 14 late night, police said today.

Shabnam (24), along with her paramour Salim, hacked to death Shaukat Ali (55), his wife Hashmi, sons Aneesh and Rashid, daughter-in-law Anjum and grandchildren Arsh and Rabia in Bawankheri village.

Talking to mediapersons, Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Vikram Singh said during interrogation, Shabnam confessed to the crime, saying her family was against her love affair, which ultimately led to the murders.

She had told the police that Salim gave sedative to all the family members before killing them with an axe, which has been recovered by the police. ''All related evidences found in place to work out the case within five days,'' he added.

Shabnam, a teacher by profession, has been arrested, the DGP said.

They were being produced in the court.
