TDP to announce candidate for by-elections on April 21
Hyderabad, Apr 18 (UNI) The opposition Telugu Desam Paryty(TDP) would announce its candidates for the by-elections for four Lok Sabha and 18 assembly seats on April 21.
TDP Politburo, chaired by its President N Chandrababu Naidu had a detailed discussion on the political situation in the State and decided to announce the party candidates for the by-poll scheduled on May 29, party sources said today.
The politburo had detailed discusisons to short-list the candidates for seats vacated by the Telangana Rashtra Samiti(TRS) members on Telangana issue.
Mr Naidu in a significant decision said his party was not averse to separate statehood for Telangana.
It may be recalled that the by-election was necessiated in 16 assembly constituencies and four Lok Sabha seats, following the resignation of the TRS legislators and MPs, protesting against the Congress party's attitude on Telangana issue.
As per the election commission notification, by-elections would be held in 18 constituencies, including two assembly seats, which fell vacant after the death of TDP MLA T Jayaprakash, representing Terlam constituency in Vizianagaram and a senior Congress leader P Janardhan Reddy from Khairatabad assembly segment.
